Vanilla Is best when trapped in candle wax. Oh, most would disagree, but I'm entitled to my opinion. See, not every cookie or pie flavored with vanilla is tasty. However... never, not once, have I smelled a candle scented with vanilla and failed to sigh or smile. A good feeling I don't have adequate words for. Take my sight, just let me always be able to smell my husband's morning breath. My Grown daughters shampoo, motorcycle oil on my son's work pants, my dogs who need bathing and then add Play dough under Granddaughter E's fingernails..ick.
Week before last I smelled my Grandma's apple dumplings baking. She left me before I was old enough or smart enough to know I would want the recipe later.
Scent is powerful.
Often I am too busy let the the full memory to spin out. But that's o.k.. I don't need the whole memory to sigh or smile, that 'teeny sliver is all I need. My very first best friend. I coveted her clothes, copied her artwork. I don't think I ever passed up an opportunity to pick up her vanilla scented candles and inhale. Thanks to my long ago friend.
With Great Fondness,

P.S. I still rub my feet together
as I go sleep and dream like a Mad Hatter once I get there!
